I am able to ping this virtual machine from Mac terminal using the IP address but when I ping the hostname it doesnt work. Curl command shows the following error. Search domainname nameserver 8888 nameserver 1111 nameserver 1001 Note in the first line you can also use your routers IP address for example nameserver 192168431 in my case which will make other systems pingable on the same network.
Nmap however we can infer that its open.
Its not a good idea to generate resolv. Try nslookup and see what DNS server you are using. Name or service not known. I am still new to linux and learning.
